Written by Alan Moore; Art by Dave Gibbons

It all begins with the paranoid delusions of a half-insane hero called Rorschach. But is Rorschach really insane or has he in fact uncovered a plot to murder super-heroes and, even worse, millions of innocent civilians? On the run from the law, Rorschach reunites with his former teammates in a desperate attempt to save the world and their lives, but what they uncover will shock them to their very core and change the face of the planet! Following two generations of masked superheroes from the close of World War II to the icy shadow of the Cold War comes this groundbreaking comic story — the story of The Watchmen.

Avengers Cast “Confirmed”
Iron Man 2 To Intro New Avenger.

Avengers-FilmAccording to Den of Geek, Incredible Hulk director Louis Leterrier has been letting all the beans spill from Marvel’s bag of tricks concerning the cast of the Avengers movie, as well as the current state of Iron Man 2. Is the Frenchman giving us fact, or just more fiction? I’ll let you be the judge of that.

The DoG source, who spoke to Leterrier during Marvel Night at the Grand Rex in Paris earlier this month, states that the director confirmed to him that Iron Man 2 is currently underway, with a script being written by director Jon Favreau and star Robert Downey Jr. If that’s true, it’s a relief to know that after all those rumors of major turmoil behind the scenes over at Marvel, Ol’ Shell-head is back safe in the hands of the men who made him a hit in the first place. (Does that mean that Tropic of Thunder writer Justin Theroux isn’t handling the script as rumored?

The DoG source also claims that Leterrier hinted that a previously unseen Avengers character will be making a cameo appearance in Iron Man 2, a la Sam Jackson’s Nick Fury appearance at the end of Iron Man. Could we see one of the A-list stars Marvel is said to be courting for the roles of both Captain America and Thor? Only time and the rumor-mill will tell.

Finally, the big drop: the DoG source, via Leterrier, confirms that Ed Norton, Robert Downey Jr., Sam Jackson and the rest of the A-list cast filling out Cap and Thor’s tights will all be on board to bring Avengers to the big screen in 2011! (Oh lord, let your glory be great that such a fantasy might become reality!)

Again, these source of a source type deals can only be taken with a LARGE grain of salt. However, who wants to play the pessimist in this case? I sure don’t. With Comic Con ‘08 set to get underway, perhaps Marvel will get fan fervor going and make an official announcement regarding all these rumors. Keep your eyes posted on the Con, and while you wait for the good news, take a minute to rant back to us with your thoughts.

Iron Man 2 and Thor are still set for 2010 release; The First Avenger: Captain America and The Avengers are both slated for 2011 release.

Teaser Trailer Available Now...

Check out the first Terminator 4 / Terminator: Salvation teaser trailer from director McG.

My first thought? It’s not awful.

Could it be that we’re going to get a worthy addition to the Terminator movie franchise?

It’s only a one minute teaser, but it packs in a lot of imagery. Based only on this early peek, Terminator: Salvation looks like it may actually turn out to be pretty decent. The knee-jerk reaction when McG was tapped to direct this was a collective scream of horror from fans, but you have to remember that he is capable of directing something other than cheesy Charlie’s Angels movies. If you recall, he also did the very serious and (in my opinion) very good We Are Marshall.

Based on this I’m going to throw him the benefit of the doubt.

JOHN WOO TO DIRECT CALIBER
Based On The Hit Comic Book Series

John Woo will direct comic book adaptation Caliber, to be unveiled at next week's Comic-Con in San Diego, reports Variety.

The film looks likely to be a three-way co-production of Johnny Depp's Infinitum Nihil, Barry Levine's Radical Comics and Lion Rock, the U.S.-based company that Woo runs with longstanding partner Terence Chang.

Radical Comics' hit story sets King Arthur and his knights as 19th century gunslingers in the Pacific Northwest.

DC NATION 127

Last week we spoke about how DC Comics licensed the rights to the Archie superhero characters and left them in the very capable hands of Joe Straczynski for our ongoing BRAVE AND BOLD series. I also mentioned last week that we'd something more to talk about. Well, here it is…

I was always a fan of Milestone Comics. When they burst on the scene in 1993, they were brash, powerful and stood apart from the rest of the superhero books on the shelves. This was not because of the ethnic makeup of the line, it was because their characters and stories had a strength and rawness most books were searching for. Even now, more than ten years since they were last seen in comics form, Static, Icon, Blood Syndicate and Hardware still stand strong with comics fans.

So when I came to DC, and I looked over all the characters the universe had to offer, I still felt there was room for more. As I mentioned, as a longtime Milestone fan, I thought that those characters would be a great addition to our line, not just to see print in their own series and own universe, but to add to, diversify, expand, and enhance the existing DC Universe. Over the years I had spoken to Dwayne McDuffie, one of the co-founders of Milestone, and on several occasions our conversations drifted over to Milestone. We both agreed that it would be great to see these characters back in print but always had trouble figuring out how to make it work -- that is, until now.

Now, I am extremely happy to announce that a deal was made and the Milestone characters live once more. And more important, they will operate as part of the DC Universe. Starting later this year, Icon and Shadow Cabinet will be appearing in JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA (of course it helps that Dwayne is writing the series) and even more exciting, Static will be making his way to the TEEN TITANS! Back in all their glory and just the way you remember them. After all, it would be difficult to improve on concepts as strong as these.

You will see more announcements regarding Milestone as the year progresses, but I hope you will be joining me in welcoming back these great characters to the comic book fold.

To be continued…
